LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT
GEARD AJETOVIC
Division: Middleweight
Trainer: Chris Firth
12 times Yugoslavian champion; 2000 Olympian; World
Championships 2002 Silver Medallist
Fighting out of Liverpool by way of Beocin in what
is now Serbia, powerfully built Geard Ajetovic is
perhaps the most highly decorated former amateur
champion currently plying his trade professionally
in Great Britain.
'Ged' as he likes to be called won over 20 amateur
tournaments and lost barely a handful of his 300 or
so unpaid bouts.
Considered a "can't miss" prospect at the age of 24,
the tank-like Ajetovic has impressed with every
appearance, dominating decent British journeyman
like Ojay Abrahams (who he debuted against in April
2003) and Jason Collins.
Such is the strength of this 2000 Sydney Olympian,
that Fight Academy were confident enough to pitch
their middleweight hot property in with light
heavyweight Magid Ben Driss on the huge Ricky Hatton
show in Sheffield last November.
Trainer Chris Firth said: "We've delighted to have a
promoter willing to support Geard and I'm sure both
Geard and Fight Academy will reap the rewards once
we get to title level."
Of all Fight Academy's young guns, Ajetovic is in
the title hunt.
